Desktop Shortcut to open a website

Create a shortcut to open a FrontPage website


The shortcut created in this example is for FrontPage. The method can also be used for Expression Web by substituting the path and application for FrontPage:(for 64bit systems, use Program Files(x86) instead of Program Files)

  • Right-click the desktop and choose "New Shortcut..." Browse to file
  • Browse to FRONTPG.EXE
  • Click Next
  • Type a descriptive name for the shortcut., then click Finish Add Name for shortcut
  • Change the properties for the shortcut:
  • Right click the shortcut and choose Properties
  • On the Shortcut tab, amend the target to include the location for the website to be opened - the examples below open a disc-based web, and a server based web. Add target
  • The complete Target above is:
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\FRONTPG.EXE" "%USERPROFILE%\my documents\my web sites\rxs-test\data"
    Add target
  • The complete target above is (all on one line):
    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\FRONTPG.EXE" http://192.168.1.208/
